I know the reasons why Ford went with the TTV6. It makes sense. But you can’t convince me the current engine would be cooler than having an even more powerful version of the GT350R’s flat plane crank V8 . Hell they could keep the fancy pants dual clutch whatever transmission and I’d still be happy.

It makes sense for it to be an Ecoboost. Your halo car should be about touting your latest technologies and showing them at their best.
Also, that picture is backwards.

A higher horsepower 5.2 Voodoo really isn’t possible. That engine is pretty much wrung out to the extreme for an engine you can warranty.
The Ecoboost is the superior engine. End of debate.

Because Ecoboost branding.
They need to move those four cylinder CUVs! Profit profit profit. What better way to convince enthusiasts it’s “better” than to race it and put it in their halo car. Regardless of challenging tradition or changing the cars character. It makes total marketing sense though, don’t get me wrong.
But “better” is a matter of perspective. And to me, if a mid-engined, factory-backed, Ford racecar is going around the track against Ferraris, Porsches Astons etc then it would be “better” if it was a V8, goddamnit.
Especially one as awesome as that 5.2.
